DeWings celebrate 50 years

Carl and Carole DeWing celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family on Dec. 25 in Hawaii. They renewed their wedding vows at the First Congregational Church in Lahaina, Maui. In attendance were their daughter Teri Smith, her husband, Rick, and their daughters, Charlotte and Rachel, all of Moscow, Idaho; daughter Dr. Michelle DeWing of Roseberg, Ore.; and grandson, James DeWing of Sacramento. The couple met in 1958 as students at Fresno State University and married two years later on Christmas Day in Fresno. In addition to daughters Teri and Michelle, they have a son, Richard DeWing of Klamath Falls, Ore. They also have a granddaughter, Katie DeWing, of Sacramento. Carole (Ogburn) DeWing taught 28 years as an elementary teacher, first in Fresno, and then in Rocklin. Carl DeWing was in broadcasting for 30 years, which included 19 years in radio in Fresno, and 11 years in television in Sacramento. He subsequently served as an information officer for 15 years in various departments of the State of California. In 2007, the DeWings moved from Loomis, to Redmond, Ore.
