Trevor Stephens, of Del Oro High School, picked a good way to end his high school cross country racing career. Stephens, running perhaps against his toughest competition of the season, ran a 15:42 over the 3.0 mile course at Woodward Park in Fresno to finish 10th in last Saturday’s CIF State Meet. Stephens’ fine showing helped Del Oro run to a 19th place finish as a team in Div. III. Palos Verdes won the Div. III team title with 100 points. St. John Bosco was second with 111. Also scoring for Del Oro were Sam Baker, 102nd place in 16:55; Austin Dawson, 142nd place in 17:21; Dustin Penn-Henry 177th in 17:53; Kyle Woo, 185th place in 18:07; Spencer Stacey, 187th place in 18:20 and freshman Alex Mekebri, 194th place in 19:02. In the girls Div. III race, Del Oro finished in 18th place as a team. Alexa Lua was the top Lady Eagles finisher with a time of 19:41, which earned her a 74th place. Also finishing for Del Oro were Megan Gentes, 111th in 20:13; Dominique Trisitant, 112th in 20:13; Ashley Dessert, 136th place in 20:36 and Maddy Montgomery, 146th place in 20:56. ~ Staff report
