Five Del Oro wrestlers went down to Bakersfield Thursday with the hopes of placing at the two-day CIF State Meet.

On Friday, all five Golden Eagles were eliminated from the tournament before the Saturday began.

"We weren't able to get anyone to the second day," coach Dave Sanchez said. "Dylan Kainrath made it to the top 24 before being eliminated. Tough day, but still a great season. Four of these guys will be back next year hungry for a state medal!"

Joining the 170-pound Kainrath at the two-day tournament were fellow junior Isaac Blackburn (106 pounds), freshman Clay Shropshire (113), sophomore Zach Ruybal (120) and senior captain Johnny Zieour (145).

It was Kainrath's second time at the State Meet with Del Oro, which earlier in the season won the Sierra Foothill League title.

Kainrath rebounded from being pinned in his first match to pin Blake Fifer of Victor Valley in 12 seconds in his first consolation match. Kainrath followed with another pin in 2:29 before losing his final match. He finished 2-2.

Shropshire went 1-2. He won his first match in the consolation bracket 2-1.

Blackburn, Ruybal and Zieour all went 0-2.
