Del Oro’s boys wrestling team continued its fine early-season start by finishing in first place at the 26-team Marty Magnus Invitational at Casa Roble last Saturday.Del Oro’s varsity team won the tournament championship with 247.5 points. The Golden Eagles landed four individual champions and a total of 12 medalists overall.Oakridge followed Del Oro in second place with 218 points, while Folsom was third with 148. In a fine show of Del Oro’s depth, the Golden Eagles B team added five medalists and finished in 18th place.Leading Del Oro’s varsity showing were individual champions Isaac Blackburn (106), Clay Shropshire (113), Jansen Engelbrecht (120) and Dylan Kainrath (182). Kainrath was also named as the outstanding heavyweight wrestler.
Adding a second-place effort for Del Oro was Patrick Neu (160), while Ian Gassawau was third (126). Checking in with fourth place finishes were Zain Demarte (132), Dustin Edwards (152), Russell Pierce (195) and Saul Meneses (285).
Also placing for the Golden Eagles with fifth places were Tim Bartolomei (132) and Johnny Zieour (145).
Leading the B squad were third place efforts from Landon McBride (106) and Will Powers (120), a fifth place from Andrew Keefe (152), a seventh by Alex Ratkowski (152) and an eighth from Alec Uhler (170).
