Del Oro’s track teams swept past Nevada Union April 6 in a Sierra Foothill League meet held at Del Oro. On the varsity level, Del Oro received a pair of wins apiece from Angelo Pasquale and Casey Wheeler. Pasquale captured the 100 meters (10.9) and the 200 (22.3), while Wheeler copped both hurdle races winning the 110 highs (15.47) and the 300 intermediates (43.31). Sam Baker also captured two wins for the Del Oro boys as he won the 800 meters (2:10.28) and the 1600 (4:42.60). Other top winning marks for the Golden Eagles were a 12-6 pole vault by Chris Ormes, a 39-5 effort from Kevin Duarte in the triple jump, and a 121-5 discus toss by Quentin Baldwin. Del Oro’s girls squad had several good efforts including a 1-2-3 finish in the 1600 meters by Caitlin Devitt-Payne (5:32), Emma Freeman (5:34) and Jessie Rozario (5:35). Also standing out were Vicky Warmer with a winning 11-0 pole vault, freshman Brooke Simmons with a 12.54 clocking in the 100, and Brie Simmons with a 47/8 time in the 300 hurdles. At the JV level, Jeff Setterlund won the 100 and 200 while Brandon Monroe (53.43) and Austin Smith (56.07) went 1-2 in the 400 meters.
