Lady Eagle Spikers Sweep Colfax Visiting Colfax came into the Bonner Gym last week with an undefeated girls volleyball record but the Del Oro Lady Eagles proved to be rude hosts in notching a three-game sweep of the Falcons. Receiving 10 kills from Stephanie Solich and six via Morgan Lees, the Lady Eagles posted a 26-24, 25-15, 25-23 win. Both Solich and Amy Heyn also served nine points each for the winners. In last weekend’s Craft Tournament at Oak Ridge, the Lady Eagles defeated Lodi; Pioneer, of Woodland; and Redwood, of Larkspur, to win its pool, but then fell 2-0 to Rocklin in the semi-final round. In the win over Redwood, Del Oro notched scores of 25-14 and 25-23 with Lees netting eight kills and Solich six. In the dig department, Morgan Hentschke led the way with three. Del Oro will host El Dorado today, Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. and then next Tuesday entertain Bella Vista, also at 6 p.m. Del Oro Frosh Girls Win Carmichael Tournament Del Oro’s girls frosh volleyball team swept through five straight opponents last Saturday to win the Carmichael Freshman Tournament played last Saturday. On their way to the title, Del Oro defeated Capital Christian, 2-0; Ponderosa, 2-0; Bear River, 2-1; Center, 2-0; and Bear River again in the finals, 2-1. In the pool play win over Bear River, both Taylor Moore and Audrey Stoddard led the way with six kills apiece while Maci Pingree totaled five assists. Pacing Del Oro’s win over Capital Christian were Stoddard, Melissa Maneatis and Lida Landre, all with three kills apiece; while Paige Tomasini, with seven digs, and Maneatis, with five, led the way in the title win over Bear River.
