Lady Eagle hurlers team for no-hitter A no-hitter by Del Oro High seniors Christina Pryor and Alex Watilo helped the Lady Eagles even their Sierra Foothill League record in a 4-1 conquest of Granite Bay April 10 in Loomis. Pryor struck out 10 in just five innings and Watilo pitched two hitless innings in relief for Del Oro, now 3-3 in SFL action and 10-10 overall. Sparking Del Oro at the plate was freshman Aspen Echelmeier, who was 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Eagle offense. Dana Andersen was also 2-for-2, adding one RBI. Netters blank Woodcreek, 9-0 Del Oro’s boys tennis team improved to 6-2 in the Sierra Foothill League with a 9-0 blanking of Woodcreek April 11. Del Oro freshman Sean Kolar won his match 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to lead the winners. Meanwhile, Matt Winger took a thriller at No. 2 singles, winning 6-2, 4-6, 7-6, 14-12 in the tiebreaker. In other singles action, Charlie Wyatt cruised 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, Andrew Milton won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4, Brandon Bailey won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5, and Taylor Carrington won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. Garrett Dahlin and Spencer Butterfield teamed up for a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles. Taylor Rieff and Nick Koop won 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 2, and Roen Young and Jakob Stevens won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3. Scoreless tie for soccer The points are starting to be at a premium for the Del Oro Lady Eagles soccer team. With the Sierra Foothill League season starting to head into the stretch run, Del Oro was forced to settle for a 0-0 tie against Granite Bay April 11. The stalemate left Del Oro with a 1-1-3 SFL record going into the April 11 home match with Woodcreek. On Wednesday, April 23, the Lady Eagles will host Nevada Union. With just six SFL matches left, Del Oro trails Rocklin (5-1), Roseville (3-1-2) and Oakmont (3-3-1) in the race for the league’s playoff spots.
