Del Oro picked up a big girls volleyball win last week by taming Rocklin in a tough, four-game match. In last Wednesday’s win, the Lady Eagles had to roll their sleeves up and go to work in a tight four-game battle that saw Del Oro prevail, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 27-25. The Lady Eagles received a bevy of solid efforts in the win led by Morgan Lees and Stephanie Solich, who both collected 14 kills apiece to spark the offense. Also playing well on the frontline were Stephanie Geyer, who added eight kills; and Brooke Simmons, who contributed five. Helping set up the offense more than admirably was Amy Heyn, who had 33 assists to go along with 19 serving points. Summer Shell also stood out with 22 digs and eight serving points. Earlier, Del Oro topped Nevada Union in three straight, 25-10, 25-12, 25-20. Solich led the way with 12 kills, while Lees added 15 digs, and Heyn 25 assists. Del Oro will begin the second round of Sierra Foothill League play next Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Woodcreek starting at 6 p.m.
