Del Oro sharp in final non-league test
The Del Oro High baseball team blew open a close game with five runs in the fourth inning in a 13-3 win over Rio Americano Friday. Three Eagles pitchers combined to contain the Raiders in Loomis.
Junior Thomas Mullen went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored to pace Del Oro at the plate. Ryan Xepoleus was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs while Freddie Cargile belted a home run and scored three times.
Cole Perez pitched well in relief and Jarrod Rohe got the win for the Eagles (3-1). Del Oro will face Granite Bay Monday to open Sierra Foothill League play.
River Valley 5, Bear River 4 at Yuba City — The Bruins fell in extra innings after rallying from a 4-0 deficit.
Bear River (4-2) scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game before the hosts won it in the eighth.
Jordan Beskeen led the Bruin bats with two hits.
Foresthill 14, Cristo Rey 0 at Foresthill — The Wildfires cruised to victory, putting up 11 runs in their first inning of the season on Friday.
The Wildfires (1-0) will travel to Sacramento Waldorf on Tuesday.
