The Del Oro JV boys basketball team will be putting their Sierra Foothill League title hopes on the line Friday evening at Granite Bay. Under the guidance of coaches Gregg Pistochini and Jared Shelby, the Golden Eagles have navigated a tough schedule and were sitting at 7-1 in Sierra Foothill League play and 22-3 overall. If the Golden Eagles weathered a home contest last night against Roseville, the team would go into Friday’s game with a chance of earning a share of the SFL title with a win over the Grizzlies. “It should be another tough game,” said Pistochini about the undefeated Grizzlies. “Granite Bay is very solid.” In last week’s games, Del Oro used a balanced scoring attack to down Woodcreek, 65-42. Twelve different players scored for the Golden Eagles in the win. In a tougher game Friday versus Nevada Union, the Golden Eagles turned back the Miners, 55-45. Trevor Pistochini popped for 21 points to spark the offense. He was followed by Aaron Freeman with 12 points and Kyle Setterlund’s 10. ~ Staff report
