Del Oro golf rakes in banners

The Del Oro High golf team’s season just keeps getting better. Two days after winning the Cal Invitational at Plumas Pines, the Golden Eagles capped the Sierra Foothill League campaign with a dominant performance at the SFL Tournament on Monday at Timber Creek. Austin Smotherman blistered the course with a 2-under-par 70 as the Eagles clinched the SFL crown outright. Eric Ash fired a 74, Robert Sahlit shot 77 and Justin Raskin finished with a 79. Don Bollard added an 83 and Canyon Rowe tossed in a 76. At the Cal Invitational, Del Oro also shot 383 as the Eagles won the 18-team tournament by 12 strokes. Ash shot a 1-over-par 73 to lead the Eagle as Raskin fired a 76, Rowe carded a 77, Smotherman checked in with a 78 and Sahlit shot 79 for Del Oro. Del Oro advances to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Tournament on Monday at Haggin Oaks.
