The Del Oro High girls basketball team got defensive Thursday night on the way to its 50th straight Sierra Foothill League victory. The Golden Eagles crushed rival Rocklin 49-23 to finish 12-0 in the SFL after clinching its fifth straight league title earlier this month. Junior Belle Obert led the way with 13 rebounds, five blocks and three assists. Madeline Campbell scored 17 points and Crystal Sewell added nine points, eight rebounds and three steals. Del Oro (23-1 overall) led just 12-9 after the first quarter, but held the Thunder to two points in the second quarter and cruised the rest of the way. The Golden Eagles will host a first-round Sac-Joaquin Section playoff game on Tuesday. They will likely be the No. 1 seed in the Division III bracket. In junior varsity play Del Oro beat Rocklin 58-47 to finish second in the SFL behind the Thunder. Del Oro’s freshmen lost to Rocklin 35-33.
