Del Oro girls finish in top 15 at state meet

The Del Oro High girls cross country team took 14th as a team in Division III Saturday at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno. The Golden Eagles were led by sophomore Brianna Atkins, who ran to 12th place in 18:41. Randi Evans was 78th (20:25), Jill Tokutomi placed 82nd (20:27), Merie Paddeck placed 85th (20:29) and Lauren Jabusch was 123rd (21:25). Del Oro junior Shaun Boyte raced to 14th place (16:01) to lead the Del Oro boys to 18th as a team. Nathan Spangler was 30th (16:30), Chadd Baltzley placed 101st (17:36), Chris Walstad was 124th (17:57) and Ben Wulbern took 132nd (18:06). Corona Del Mar, the top-ranked girls team in the country, won the Division III title as sophomore sensation Annie St. Geme won the individual title.
