Del Oro frosh top Roseville, clinch tie for SFL crown
JV posts big SFL win
The Del Oro High frosh football team continued its march through the Sierra Foothill League. Playing Roseville’s Tigers on the road last Thursday night, the Golden Eagles shook off a slow start to hand the Tigers a 25-7 setback. The win, which moves Del Oro’s overall record to 9-0, gives the Golden Eagle a 4-0 SFL record and earns the team at least a share of the league championship. Del Oro will go after the outright crown Thursday when they host Woodcreek at 5:30 p.m. In the Roseville win, Dylan Kainrath scored a pair of touchdowns on rushes. Quarterback Michael Moore also shined with a 50-yard touchdown gallop and a 45-yard scoring pass to Cody Clayton. On defense, Tyler Mateer, Jacob Noah, Tanner Woods and Hunter Heryford all played well. Del Oro JV 42, Roseville 14 — Quarterback Zach LaBar threw three touchdown passes and an aroused Del Oro defense kept Roseville in check as the Golden Eagles posted a big Sierra Foothill League win last Friday. Del Oro, 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in Sierra Foothill League action, also received a pair of touchdowns from Brandon Monroe. Monroe caught a 29-yard scoring pass from LaBar and also added a 20-yard TD run. Aaron Richmond was on the receiving end of a 22-yard six-pointer from LaBar, while Troy Kline hauled in another TD pass from the Golden Eagles quarterback, this one from 29-yards out. The defensive standouts for the Golden Eagles included Tyler Wharton, Dalton Hudec, Robert Davis, Patrick New and Brenden Montoya.
