Del Oro, Colfax roll to shutout wins

Spencer Klein won in straight 6-0 sets at No. 5 singles Thursday afternoon to lead the Del Oro High boys tennis team in a 9-0 rout of Woodcreek at Roseville. Brett Bacharach won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles to remain undefeated. Charlie Wyatt battled for a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2, while Andrew Milton was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 3 and Brandon Bailey won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4. Cyrus Mann earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6. The undefeated No. 1 doubles tandem of Taylor Carrington and Nick Koop cruised 6-1, 6-0, as did Matt Hanson and Paul Villa at No. 2. Travis Denna and Seth Ahlquist teamed up for a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3. The Golden Eagles (7-1 Sierra Foothill League) host Nevada Union Tuesday in their first home match of the season following the recent completion of court improvements. Colfax 9, El Dorado 0 at Colfax — The Falcons’ shutout was highlighted by strong singles play. Josh Parker cruised 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 boys, while Justin Witt was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 2. In girls singles action, No. 1 Laura Zajac won 6-1, 6-0 and No. 2 Rachel Fritz beat her opponent 6-0, 6-2. In No. 1 boys doubles action, Kevin McCollum and Brett Brien won 6-4, 3-6 (10-6). Derek Ikedes and Kyle Borges won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2. Erin Katsura and Carissa Millanes teamed up for a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 girls doubles, while Katy Jenkins and Kristen Kelly won 6-2, 6-2. In the mixed doubles match, Eric Graves and Jessica Sanchez held on for a 2-6, 6-4 (10-7) victory.
