Del Oro boys wrestling team beats Granite Bay, wins SFL title

The Del Oro boys wrestling team beat Granite Bay 57-15 to claim the SFL title again this year. 
Del Oro won 11 matches to Granite Bay’s three. 
Starting at 106 pounds, Landon McBride won 9-4. At 113, Isaac Blackburn had a first-round pin. Clay Shropshire, at 120 pounds, won by tech fall 16-1. At 126, Jansen Engelbrecht had a 13-0 major decision. 
Del Oro’s Zach Ruybal lost 6-2 to Sean Brown, who is ranked eighth in the state. At 138, Tanner Robison got a 17-4 major decision. Dustin Edwards got a first-round pin at 145. At 152, Johnny Zieour won by tech fall 16-1. 
Patrick Neu pinned his opponent in the first round at 160. At 170, Brandon Jeppson had the tables turned on him as he was pinned in the third round after leading the match from the beginning. Dylan Kainrath received a forfeit at 182. Russell Pierce gave up a second-round reversal and was pinned at 195. 
At 220 Jon Francom-Clark received a forfeit as did Saul Meneses at heavyweight. 
With the league title comes a trip to Lincoln of Stockton Saturday, where the Golden Eagles will wrestle in the Div. I team duals. 
The league champions from the eight D-I leagues will get together in an eight-team bracket to decide the Sac-Joaquin Section team dual champions. 
Last year Del Oro won the D-II team dual championship. This year the entire SFL was moved up to D-I in wrestling and several other sports.
