The Del Oro High boys basketball team rode another hot shooting night from sophomore Aaron Hendricks to its second straight trip to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III semifinals Friday night. Hendricks scored a game-high 26 points as the Golden Eagles cruised past Sonora 65-49 in Loomis. Del Oro, the No. 2 seed, will face No. 3 Foothill on Wednesday at 9 p.m. in Galt in the semifinals. Del Oro led the Wildcats 33-23 at halftime Friday and put the game away with an 18-11 advantage in the third quarter. Junior Spencer Butterfield scored 16 points and junior Nico Ruiz tossed in 14 for the Eagles (22-7). Division IV San Juan 59, Colfax 41 at Citrus Heights — The Falcons led for much of the game before the fourth-seeded Spartans took control down the stretch. San Juan (25-4) outscored Colfax (17-11) 29-5 in the fourth quarter to advance to the section semifinals. The Falcons saw senior Jeff Divine and junior Kyle Greer foul out midway through the fourth quarter, hurting their comeback hopes. Senior Ethan Guiles and sophomore Austin Oberg scored 13 points apiece to lead Colfax. Junior Joey Divine added seven. Senior Jaime Ball led San Juan with 21 points. The loss signaled the end of coach Ron Pucci’s illustrious coaching career at Colfax.
