The District Attorney’s Office has declined to file charges against a man accused of taking more than $15,000 from Placer’s top prosecutor. Brian Jagger was not arraigned at his Tuesday Placer County court appearance and instead was told his case was being referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for review. Jagger was arrested in late December for allegedly taking more than $15,000 from District Attorney Scott Owens’ campaign fund. Jagger reportedly took the money for personal use. Deputy prosecutor Jeff Wilson said Tuesday that the case was referred by law enforcement to the United States Attorney’s Office and is currently under review. “The Placer County District Attorney is not going to file charges against Mr. Jagger because District Attorney Owens is a victim in the case,” Wilson said.
