Council votes to not hear Montserrat appeal

For the first time in memory, the Loomis Town Council voted not to hold a hearing on an appeal. After public comment and council discussion, they voted 3 to 2 to deny Councilman Walt Scherer’s appeal of the Montserrat Oak Mitigation and Monitoring Plan. At their July 8 meeting,Council members Tom Milward and Rhonda Morillas, along with Mayor Russ Kelley, voted to deny the appeal while Scherer and Miguel Ucovich voted in favor of a hearing on the appeal. Milward made the motion to deny the appeal and Morillas seconded it. Crickett Strock, town clerk, said she cannot remember an appeal that the council refused to hold a hearing on. - Joyia Emard, Loomis News Staff Writer
