The Cowpoke Fall Gathering kick off is at 5:30 p.m., Thursday Nov. 8, at the Red Horse Barn, at Newcastle Wedding Gardens. Poets Pat Richardson, Jeff Severson, and Bill Brewster will be the featured cowboy talent, along with a cowboy comfort cuisine dinner. Tickets are $50, call 652-6113 for availability.
The Cowpoke Fall Gathering’s available shows are at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, and 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Blue Goose Event Center. First eight row  tickets are $45, general is $35. Gold Country Wildlife Rescue will hold a Fall Haul Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday Nov. 10, at their Wildlife Intake Center at 5901 Horseshoe Bar Road. Proceeds benefit the rescue and support of local wildlife. For more information, go to
Cowboy Church for the Cowpoke Fall Gathering is at 9 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 12, and features Rusty Richard, John Kintz and Bill Brewster. Admission and refreshments are free.
Donate to the Loomis Basin Christmas Basket program and help local families in need. Checks, non-perishable food, new and unwrapped toys and other gift items are being sought. Collection boxes are located at the Loomis Chamber of Commerce; Loomis, Penryn and Newcastle fire stations; Blue Goose Produce; and The Loomis News office. Checks can be made out to Loomis Basin Christmas Baskets.
Crafters and vendors are wanted for an arts and craft boutique during the Loomis Basin Holiday Home Tour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at H. Clarke Powers Elementary School. Booth spaces are $30. PFLAG Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLG) of Placer County meets at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, in Conference Room A at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, 11815 Education Street, Auburn.  November’s meeting will include a panel of straight allies who will share their stories with the group.
Author Donalyn Miller, the “Book Whisperer,” will speak at Del Oro High School, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Del Oro Performing Arts Center. Come find out how to get children enthused about reading. Light appetizers will be available during check-in at 4 p.m. The event is presented by the Placer Area Reading Council. A Del Oro High School All Class Reunion is from 6:30 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Rocklin Park Hotel. The event is open to all alumni and Golden Eagle supporters. The cost is $25 per person and includes food, entertainment and a drink ticket. Proceeds benefit the new Del Oro Aquatic Center. Tickets are on sale at football games and in the Del Oro office.
MandaRUN 2012 is Sunday, Nov. 18 and features a half-marathon, 10K and 5K Run. The half-marathon starts at 8 a.m. at the Auburn Fairgrounds and ends in downtown Loomis. The 5K and 10K start at 9 a.m., in downtown Loomis. Mail-in must be postmarked by Nov. 10; online registration closes at 3 p.m., on Nov. 17.  Same day registration for the 5K and 10K begins at 7:30 a.m. on race day. The races are presented by the Loomis Basin Education Foundation and benefit the students of the Loomis Union School District. The Loomis Day Before Thanksgiving Parade is 9 to 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22, in downtown Loomis, on Taylor Road. Entry fee is a canned food donation and entry forms are due by Nov. 13. For more information, call parade sponsor Loomis First Assembly of God Church, at 652-6884.

Del Oro High School hosts Walk for Wishes to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation from 8 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Dec. 1. Pre-registration is $25 and $30 at the door, and participants can drop in to run/walk the track. Donations are accepted or supporters can sponsor laps. For more information, call 652-7243.
Del Oro High School metal shop is holding a Holiday Boutique from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, December 1, in the school cafeteria.
The Town of Loomis will hold Christmas in Loomis, a free tree lighting event, from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Loomis Train Depot. Free hay rides, ornament making, face painting, hot apple cider, cookies and popcorn will be available. Entertainment includes a puppet show, dancers, live manger scene, children’s choir, live music and caroling. For more information, call town hall at 652-7939.
Volunteer to help fill food boxes for the Loomis Basin Christmas Basket program from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Dec. 8, at Doupnik Manufacturing, 3237 Rippey Road.
