The Rhythm Riders will perform their tribute to Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline in the second annual benefit concert for the Penryn School PTC on Friday, April 30, at the Blue Goose Fruit Shed. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $28 in advance or $35 at the door and can be purchased at Blue Goose Produce, Foothill Feed and the Penryn School office. McLaughlin Theatre Company of Loomis will present “Fame the Musical” at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday, April 30 and May 1; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Newcastle School Amphitheatre. Tickets are $12 each; call 652-6377. Cheer on participants at the May Day Fun Run 4 mile run/walk and kid run/walk that starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Del Oro High School. The event benefits the school’s athletic department. The annual Town of Loomis Spring Clean-up Day runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in the upper parking lot, by the swimming pool, at Del Oro High School. Only Loomis residents are eligible; identification will be required. A backhoe will be available to lift heavy items, but residents must unload their own trash into the Dumpster. Electronic waste will be allowed. For a complete list of items allowed and those prohibited, call town hall at 652-1840. The Loomis Lions Club Golf Tournament, to benefit Boy Scout Troop 12, will be held Saturday, May 8, at the Lincoln Hills Golf Club. The entry fee is $100 per person or $550 for a sponsorship package. Eleven area artists will host the free Loomis Art Loop Mother’s Day Weekend Studio Tour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 8 and 9. A Placer County Health and Safety Expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Del Oro High School. The free event will feature demonstrations by K-9, SWAT and hostage negoitation teams. It will highlight how public safety organizations work together to improve the safety of the community.
