Colfax’s boys team placed four players in double-digit scoring Tuesday night at Incline on its way to posting an easy non-league win over the Highlanders, 72-43
“We jumped out to a 20-3 lead and for the most part played pretty well,” Colfax coach Mike O’Connell said. “We had 10 players score tonight and that’s nice to do.”
Colfax, 4-1 on the season, led 43-20 at halftime and cruised the rest of the way. Both Will Buell and Paul Ramseth checked in with 12 points each for the Falcons, while Matt Larson added 12. Jordan Balser chipped in with 10 more for the winners while Kevin Zachman added nine.
Colfax now heads to the Breaker Classic in Pacific Grove Friday. The Falcons will play Pacific Grove on Friday and Palma on Saturday.
Placer 67, Liberty Ranch 47 — Brennan Entz had 15 points, three steals and six assists and Isaiah Pineiro added 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Hillmen (3-1) Tuesday night in Galt. Michael McNamara had 10 points and 10 boards for Placer, which forced 18 turnovers and gave the ball away just eight times. Placer, which hosts Pioneer next Tuesday at 7 p.m., outrebounded the hosts 42-25.
Bear River 51, San Juan 47 — Justin Beskeen, despite getting in foul trouble and playing a limited role in the second half, scored a team-high 22 points for the Bruins in the home victory. Tyler Hajewski had 10 points off the bench, including two 3-pointers and Michael Raigoza chipped in with six points and eight assists. “I’m really proud of the kids to step up with Justin in foul trouble,” said Bruins coach Duwaine Ganskie, whose team plays at El Camino next Tuesday at 7 p.m. “We had some other kids do a good job.”
