Rocklin Firefighters are still investigating the cause of a house fire that occurred approximately 1:13 p.m. Wednesday on Slate Court in Rocklin. According to Rocklin Fire Battalion Chief Tim Palmer, the fire is believed to have started in an outdoor shed. The fire extended to the two bordering houses, as well as a house across the street. One of the houses had major damage with significant loss, while the other two had minor damage, Palmer said. Occupants of the houses were able to exit without injury, however one firefighter suffered a bruised thigh after falling from a roof. He was taken to the medical clinic and has been released, Palmer said. Rocklin Firefighters were delayed in reaching the house fire as they were responding to a grass fire along Interstate 80 at China Garden Road. Palmer said when the department receives multiple calls on local fires, that’s when mutual aide from other fire departments is so important. Firefighters from Roseville, Loomis and Lincoln assisted with the house blaze, Palmer said. The fire was contained at 2:09 p.m. ~Lauren Gibbs
