Bittle, a border collie, owned by Stacy Marquez, was hit by a car on King Road on Aug. 8, and suffered a broken pelvis in two places and a dislocated left hip and nerve damage to the right leg. Neighbor Chandra Shannon wrote a letter to the Loomis News editor chastising the hit and run driver. Shannono said Marquez has built a wheelchair for the dog. Shannon said Bittle trained to be a search and rescue dog, but did not always perform and has been given to different homes and suffers from separation anxiety, which led to her following Stacy out when she opened her front gate for a guest. The cost of surgery for the dog has been revised to $2,600. Bittle is being treated at Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic.
