Area roundup: Bear River boys basketball wins Victory Christian Tournament

 Tournament MVP Charlie Espinoza had 14 points and eight rebounds as Bear Riverwon the championship of the Victory Christian Tournament Saturday over Bradshaw Christian, 47-43. Bear River (7-1) earned the victory without leading scorer Justin Beskeen in the lineup, as he had a club volleyball game elsewhere. Despite not playing Saturday, Beskeen was still named to the all-tournament team. In Saturday’s victory, Travis Anderson had nine points for Bear River, which plays Pioneer Tuesday at 6 p.m. Bear River advanced to the title game by beating Forest Lake Christian, 71-33, on Friday night. 
Excel Academy 80, Forest Lake Christian 66 – The Falcons (8-2) lost in the third-place game of the Victory Christian Tournament Saturday. Brandon Camacho led Forest Lakwith 25 points, Chase Augustino had 15 and Jesse Poppin added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Casa Roble invite – Del Oro had a successful outing at the 26-team Marty Magnus Invitational at Casa Roble High School Saturday. The Eagles took their first string Varsity A team and the Varsity B team to the event. The A team won the tournament championship with 247.5 points, four individual champions and 12 medalists. The B team took home five medalists and finished in 18th place. Dylan Kainrath was awarded Most Outstanding Heavyweight wrestler. Other Golden Eagles champions included Isaac Blackburn (106) pounds, Clay Shropshire (113)        and Jansen Engelbrecht  (120).
