Del Oro’s broadcasting teacher Jeremy Jeffreys will hold a Broadcasting Boot Camp Saturday for students who want to learn more about broadcasting, video production and composition, according to Placer Unified School District officials.

Jeffreys said he’s excited for the second annual event at the high school in Loomis.

“We are so thrilled that this Saturday marks Del Oro High School's second annual Broadcasting Boot Camp,” Jeffreys said. “Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders from all over Loomis and Newcastle area will be spending the day with Del Oro broadcasting and filmmaking students diving into the world of digital filmmaking and TV news production."

According to Jeffreys, students will have a hands-on learning experience of the following skills:

  • edit digital video with Adobe CC

  • use professional-grade video cameras

  • use professional-grade microphones

  • use professional-grade lighting gear

  • shoot on a green-screen in the Del Oro Broadcasting Studio

  • use good composition, framing, lighting and sound when filming.

The cost for each student is $20 and that includes a free T-shirt and pizza, according to Jeffreys. The Broadcasting Boot Camp is organized and sponsored by the Del Oro Broadcasting and Film Makers Club.
